Chapter One - Your Turn
Chapter One - Your Turn
The sun flowed unevenly through the open window, though as far as he was concerned, there was no sun, no hope, nothing. He sat in the corner of the dark room, still upset over what had just occured. He sat there for hours, trying hard not to shed tears. The sun finally set, and the moon leaped into the sky as a replacement. He stood up and rubbed his eyes. It was tradition here at the Forbidden City to wear all black. His teeshirt and jeans were black, but his shoes were a dark brown. No one noticed at night, and no one really cared. His long hair matched colors with his shoes, as did his gloves. However, his golden eyes that lit up at night soon gave him, Gao, the nickname 'Wolf Dog.' In the darkness, he was almost completely blind. The door creaked loudly as it slowly opened, like an ocean wave crashing onto shore leaving nothing behind but wet sand, a reminder of the violent action it had caused the world.
His head quickly turned to it in confusion for no one had ever entered his room before. Not ever since the last kid who owned this room died. The wooden door opened and at first, he did not recognize the figure until it had hissed.
"Your turn." The voice in a whisper, reeking of evil and hatred. Gao recognized Razma's dark voice. Although Razma was only a mere secretary to Kent, his power was well known and only matched by his cruelty. Gao was at first afraid when it was his turn for a dare, but then he had gotten used to the pain, not the suffering he had caused himself, but the pain he caused others indirectly. What could Gao do, for he was only one young child? Surrendering, Gao nodded and followed the figure out the door.
If only he knew that he was walking to his own execution site.
They arrived at the center of the Forbidden City, surrounded by a group of children who were hungry for blood. All eyes were on Gao, they were assaulting him with stares. The dare had not even been announced and Gao was already
starting to cry. The children began to chatter, Razma pushing Gao onto the floor, forcing him to sit. Gao wiped the
tears away, but more came. In unison, the chatter, the tears, and the stares all stopped at once. Everyone was focused on a boy, a little older than Gao, he was 15, as a matter of fact, but this boy was not just any kid. He was
practically the leader of the Forbidden City, the king. His name was known to all, even to those who didn't live here. He was Kent, also known as the Zealot. Kent was considered the most cruelest, the most gruesome, the most brilliant,
and the most confident boy who ever lived in the Forbidden City. That's why, Gao thought, everyone obeyed him.
"Ready, Isumi?" Razma barked at Gao, taunting him with his first name. "Or do you prefer Wolf Dog?" He saw the faint anger in Gao's eyes that flashed when he was called these names.
Silence filled the air, choking Gao and everyone around him.
((Sigh, no, this isn't some emo, gorey, dark story. This is a side story when I feel like writing, but not to Greater Test's plot. And don't take all the sentences literally, the children don't -REALLY- want blood.))
